LS Events Harness Vectorworks Technology To Deliver Event Excellence
At LS Events, innovation is at the core of how we design, manage, and deliver some of the UK's most iconic large-scale events. A key pillar of our success is our strategic use of Vectorworks, a powerful design and BIM software that goes across architecture, entertainment and landscape design.
We were delighted to host members of the Vectorworks Executive Team during their recent trip to the UK, to share insights, best practices and case studies relating to the different ways we have grown to use and adapted Vectorworks to deliver excellence for the events industry.
“We've harnessed this drawing technology to streamline event planning and execution, managing complex projects with precision and efficiency. Our team of 11 highly skilled draughtspeople are all fully trained in Vectorworks, making it our operational hub of technical drawings and specifications across all projects, regardless of venue or sector,” explains Alex Ridgers, Projects Co-Ordinator, LS Events.
“Over the years, LS Events has developed a comprehensive Vectorworks base file, template, and workflow, taking advantage of the software’s many robust tool sets. We employ the Vectorworks Cloud for collaboration, allowing team members to seamlessly share files. This has improved efficiency across the board. Additionally, Project Sharing within Vectorworks enables multiple team members to work on the same file simultaneously, optimising workflows and strengthening the team's resilience by distributing tasks effectively”.
Vectorworks drawing software has become an indispensable tool in our event planning and technical drawing process. A standout example from 2024 was its deployment during the UEFA Champions League Final’s City Operations in London, where LS Events managed two Fan Meeting Points welcoming 80,000 Dortmund and Real Madrid fans. Simultaneously, we delivered the UEFA Champions Festival across five key locations—Trafalgar Square, Regent Street, Somerset House, South Bank, and Potters Fields Park.
Vectorworks played a crucial role in managing these complex operations, allowing us to create project files that enabled seamless collaboration across multiple sites and drawing leads. This software was invaluable in producing detailed venue site plans for both the Champions Festival and the Fan Meeting Points. It also facilitated smooth integration with AutoCAD and rendering partners through DWG exports, supported site build and de-rig documentation, and enabled DXF file exports for Event Control mapping software (GIS), ensuring precision at every stage of the project.
Since 2013, LS Events has been a key partner in producing BST Hyde Park, a festival that spans three weeks with nine 65,000-capacity concerts. This event demands flawless execution, and our team uses Vectorworks to coordinate numerous moving parts such as the creation of site design to optimise the guest experience, including backstage layouts for high-profile artists, barrier reconfigurations for different shows, ensuring maximum safety and crowd flow and the use of staffing dot plans for ingress and egress management.
As the local event operator for the London E-Prix of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, we worked closely with the global team to ensure the smooth running of this cutting-edge event. Vectorworks proved invaluable with regard to our collaboration with architects to integrate temporary infrastructure into a multi-level venue and the creation of race track overlay designs and day-by-day build schedule drawings, utilising data tags for tracking progress and the creation of 3D renders to explore creative content, enhancing the fan village experience at the ExCeL Arena.
In all these projects, Vectorworks has empowered LS Events to push boundaries and innovate. By leveraging its full range of tools, we ensure meticulous planning, seamless collaboration, and world-class event execution.
