This is Oxford Street

Igniting the Vision for a People-First Oxford Street

In June 2025, the Mayor of London announced a bold, transformative vision: the pedestrianisation of Oxford Street, aimed at reimagining 1.1km of the capital's most iconic shopping street as a people-first destination and re-establishing its place as a global retail powerhouse.

To celebrate and prove this concept, the Greater London Authority (GLA) appointed LS Events as the event delivery partner for 'This is Oxford Street'.

For the first time in seven years, we transformed the street - from Regent Street to Orchard Street - into a vibrant, high-impact street party on Sunday, September 21, 2025. This historic, one-day takeover was packed with entertainment, major brand activations, live performances, and food and beverage, offering a powerful proof of concept for the street’s pedestrianised future.

Our mission was to execute this landmark event flawlessly, introducing Londoners to a re-energised Oxford Street that is a hub of culture and entertainment, and demonstrating the exciting possibilities for brand engagement and community life that lie ahead.

A Landmark Transformation in a Tight Window

The complexity of the 'This is Oxford Street' was multifaceted, demanding unparalleled Excellence in logistics, stakeholder management, and commercial delivery:

Logistical Precision: Delivering a full-scale, high-impact event across a 1.1km stretch of Central London with an overnight build. The operational timeline was rigidly constrained to a less than 48-hour closure (9 pm Saturday to 4 am Monday).

Stakeholder Navigation: Securing a closure of this magnitude - and paving the way for wider pedestrianisation plans - required critical business and resident consultation and management with a wide array of central London stakeholders.

Commercial Innovation: The event required commercial expertise to secure partnerships and manage activations that would demonstrate the future potential of the street.

Vision to Reality: Translating the GLA’s vision for a pedestrianised street into a high-quality, engaging experience.

End-to-End Delivery & Strategic Partnership

We leveraged our extensive experience in central London operations to provide a full suite of services, ensuring a seamless and impactful delivery from concept to completion. We demonstrated pioneering leadership by taking on a broad mandate that went beyond traditional event management.

Logistics and Site Transformation

We executed an intricate overnight build and dismantle, successfully transforming the nation's busiest high-street into an urban festival and back again, all within the critical 48-hour window. This required military-grade precision in Event Management, Site Operations, and Health & Safety to manage the dense overlay, structures, stages, and complex supplier coordination.

Commercial and Partnership Management

Our team was crucial in bringing the commercial vision to life, securing and managing partnerships with major global brands and retailers, including: H&M, Topshop, Holland & Barrett, the NBA, Schuh, Under Armour, and The Body Shop. These retailer activations, alongside significant in-store activity, were pivotal in showcasing the street's vibrant commercial future. We also secured Choose Love as the official charity partner, anchoring the community and social element.

Innovative Programming and Engagement

We curated the entire event programme, from three live stages to bespoke urban installations like a children's literary festival and urban forest. Crucially, we handled all business and resident engagement, ensuring the project was supported by the local community - a critical component in validating the wider pedestrianisation plans. We also developed the entire event branding and collateral, from customer maps to guides, providing a cohesive and professional identity.
