Five Years On: Remembering the Epic 1500km Survival Tour
Hard to believe it’s 5 years to the day that our Survival Tour convoy concluded its 1500km ride from Newcastle to London to raise awareness of the perilous state of the live music, events and theatre industries during the COVID-19 pandemic 🚴♂️ 🚴♂️ 🚴
This epic undertaking was a true tale of collaboration between LS Events and our friends at Proper Productions Ltd, bolstered by many many industry colleagues who cycled by our sides during the darkest of times for our industry.
“The survival tour was an incredible experience and gave us the opportunity to see first hand and talk about what was really happening at venues of all sizes all over the country with the people who were protecting those venues through the hardest of times,” reflects co-organiser Mark Ward from Proper Productions. “It was incredibly humbling to see the support we got from those people and from the wider events community in our efforts to focus attention on how bad things had become. We raised important funds for We Make Events Official to help those hardest hit by the closures which felt hugely positive both for us on the ride and for the wider community. We got to eat a LOT of Greg’s vegan sausage rolls. And sometimes both of Steve’s brakes worked on the same day.”
Today we remember with great fondness the incredible experience of the Survival Tour and thank everyone who supported this cause whether you showed up at the 100+ venues and festival sites we visited, donated to the £££'s we raised or cycled with us along the 1500km route. We salute each and every one of you.
