Japan Matsuri

LS Events were instrumental in the successful delivery of Japan Matsuri 2023 and 2024, forging a strong partnership with Audience as Lead Event Production Agency and providing comprehensive operational support to the dedicated Japan Matsuri Organising Committee, a collective of key Japanese cultural and business organisations behind the UK’s much-loved and biggest annual festival of Japanese culture and food.

Cultural Celebration

We embraced the challenge of bringing this vibrant celebration of Japanese culture back to London's iconic Trafalgar Square, transforming the space into a bustling hub of activity.

Our expert operational management contributed to drawing over 60,000 people across both years, fostering huge participant engagement with captivating performances and a wealth of cultural and trader stalls, reinforcing Japan Matsuri's status as a symbol of the strong bonds (Kizuna 絆) between Japan and the UK.

Culturally Attuned Event Delivery

A core strength demonstrated at Japan Matsuri was our ability to deliver an event deeply rooted in Japanese culture, working seamlessly with diverse cultural groups and performers. LS Events implemented culturally sensitive practices and tailored communications to effectively engage with international artists, traders, and organisers, navigating potential language barriers with care and precision. Our operational planning and on-site coordination were responsive to the unique needs of traditional and contemporary Japanese acts, ensuring that the event's delivery not only supported the logistical requirements but also genuinely enhanced the authentic cultural experience for all participants and attendees.

Integrated Operations, Infrastructure, and Technical Delivery in a Landmark Venue

Delivering this large-scale cultural festival in Trafalgar Square, a venue with inherent logistical complexities and limited access, demanded exceptional expertise in integrating operational management, site infrastructure, and technical production. LS Events excelled in site management and layout optimisation, effectively utilising the space for over 50 trader stalls and various performance areas while ensuring robust crowd management strategies facilitated safe audience flow, including managing the complex movements of culturally significant elements through the Square.

We provided comprehensive management of all site infrastructure and technical production, including planning, procurement, and execution of main stage build and setup, encompassing lighting, PA systems, and video.

Coordinating effectively with technical and site suppliers, we ensured reliable power and addressed specific considerations such as optimising stage visibility and managing sound, liaising with central London stakeholders to balance event requirements with potential impact on surrounding area, maintaining high production values and a safe environment throughout demanding event hours in this prominent location.
